Carla Zandi Shamblen, 45, of 6940 Scenic Pointe Place, Manassas, VA, formerly of Bradford, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at her residence.
Born July 21, 1967 in Erie she was the daughter of Carl P. and Bunny (Ciccarelli) Zandi.
On June 14, 2003 in Fredericksburg, VA she married Douglas D. Shamblen who survives.
Carla was a 1985 graduate of Bradford Central Christian High School and a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, with an Associate Degree in Visual Communications.
She worked for 20 years at BoatUS as a creative director and received several APEX awards for her design work at BoatUS Magazine. She was an advocate for cancer survivors in the Washington area and was to receive the Kristen Martinez Warrior of the Year Award from the Tigerlily Foundation in October.
In addition to her parents and husband is one son, Nicolas A. Piscitelli of Manassas, VA, two brothers, Bob (Ann) Zandi, of Rineyville, KY, and Scott (Leann) Zandi, of Slippery Rock, paternal grandmother, Theresa Zandi of Bradford, father-in-law Jim (Becky) Shamblen of Hampton, VA, and mother-in-law, Carole (Wiley) Waters of Seaford, VA, three aunts, Reda (Steve) Giordano, her Godmother of Kane, Mary Ann (Vince) McGavisk of Dansville, NY and Kathleen Mascia of Florida, two uncles, Vince Ciccarelli, her Godfather of Bradford and Robert (Betty) Ciccarelli of Strasburg, one niece, seven nephews and several cousins.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 27, 2012, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., East Main Street, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, July 28th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Leo J. Gallina, Retired Pastor as Celebrant. Mausoleum entombment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
